Is Stripchat legit?
Stripchat is a large, established cam site run by a company based in Cyprus (Technius). Connections are encrypted, and card details are handled by established payment processors. The risks people run into almost always come from outside the site:

Is it legal to watch?
Watching adult live cams as an adult is legal in most countries, but the law is set where you live, so check your local rules. What gets people into trouble almost everywhere is recording shows and reposting them, which breaks the models' rights and often the law. In Japan, the cases reported so far involved people streaming from Japan and the companies running them, not viewers.

The 2021 data exposure and two-factor authentication
In November 2021, the security research team at Comparitech found part of Stripchat's database open to the internet with no password. It was found on 5 November and closed two days later. It held about 65 million user records, including email addresses, usernames, IP addresses and tip amounts. The report does not say that passwords or card numbers were included.
In June 2022, about 10 million of those records turned up online, according to the breach-checking site Have I Been Pwned, where you can check your own email address after confirming it. Leaked addresses tend to attract fake emails that claim to come from Stripchat, so do not log in from a link in an email; open stripchat.com yourself.
- Sign up with an email address you do not use anywhere else.
- Give Stripchat its own password that you do not reuse.
- Turn on two-factor authentication under Settings and Privacy, so logging in needs a code as well as your password.
- On the same screen, Active Sessions lists every device that is logged in. Log out any you do not recognise.
Avoid fake sites and malware
- Check the address is stripchat.com; lookalike domains exist.
- Type the address or use a bookmark instead of clicking ads or social media links promising something free.
- Only enter card details on Stripchat's own purchase screen.
- Leave any site that says you must install an app or codec to watch.
If you entered your password or card number on a fake site, change your Stripchat password (and anywhere you reuse it) and call your card issuer to block the card.
